Call for Proposals (CFP) for Collaborative Research Projects between National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (TAIWAN TECH) and Tokushima University (TU)
1. Purpose of the Call
National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (TAIWAN TECH) and Tokushima University (TU) have established a collaborative framework to strengthen academic exchange and promote joint research activities between the two institutions.
Under this framework, researchers from both universities are invited to submit proposals for collaborative research projects.
The objectives of this program are to:
- promote international research collaboration between the two universities
- facilitate interdisciplinary academic exchange
- encourage the development of long-term joint research initiatives
- provide seed funding to initiate new collaborative research activities
2. Research Topics
There are no restrictions on research topics.
Proposals from all academic disciplines and interdisciplinary fields are welcome.
3. Structure of the Research Team
Each research team must consist of:
- One Principal Investigator (PI) from TAIWAN TECH
- One Principal Investigator (PI) from TU
Additional participants may include:
- faculty members
- postdoctoral researchers
- doctoral students
- research assistants
Participation of students and early-career researchers is strongly encouraged.
4. Project Duration
Each approved project will be implemented during the following period: 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027
5. Funding
Funding for each approved project will be jointly provided by both institutions.

Each institution will administer and disburse its portion of the funding in accordance with its internal regulations.
6. Eligible Expenses
Funding may be used for the following project-related expenses:
- travel expenses
- research equipment
- consumables
- personnel costs for researchers or students
The funds cannot be used to cover the personnel costs of the Principal Investigators.
7. Application Procedure
Applicants must submit the completed application form to both institutions.

8. Application Period
The Call for Proposals will be open from: 15 April – 15 May
Late submissions will not be accepted.
9. Review and Selection Process
All submitted proposals will undergo a peer review process conducted by reviewers appointed by both institutions.
The final funding decision will be made by the: Assessment and Selection Committee (ASC)
The ASC consists of executive representatives from both TAIWAN TECH and TU.
10. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
(1) Research Team Qualification
- expertise and capability of the research team
- commitment of both institutions to the project
(2) Scientific and Technological Merit
- originality of the proposed research
- contribution to advancing knowledge
- potential for innovation
(3) Quality of Project Design
- clarity of research objectives
- feasibility of the methodology
- appropriateness of research design
(4) Expected Impact
- academic contributions
- potential publications
- impact on industry or society
- strengthening of institutional collaboration
11. Additional Evaluation Considerations
To improve fairness and encourage broader participation in the program, the following aspects may also be considered:
- Previous Funding Record (10%)
A portion of the evaluation score may consider the number of times the PI has previously received funding from this program.
This mechanism aims to encourage participation from new research teams.
- Support for Early-Career Faculty
Proposals led by Assistant Professors or Associate Professors may receive additional consideration if the proposal demonstrates strong potential for future research development.
12. Program Activities
To strengthen academic exchange between the two institutions, project teams are expected to participate in program-related activities.
International Forum on Advanced Technologies(IFAT)
PIs are encouraged to present research progress at joint academic events organized by the two universities.
In particular:
Project PIs are required to participate in the IFAT Conference scheduled to be held in March 2027 at TAIWAN TECH.
13. Reporting Requirements
A final report must be submitted within two months after the completion of the project.
The report should include:
- summary of research activities
- outcomes of collaboration
- research achievements and future plans
14. Expected Research Outcomes
At least one academic publication derived from the collaborative research should be completed by: 30 June 2029
Researchers from both institutions must be listed as co-authors.
All resulting publications must acknowledge the joint support from TAIWAN TECH and TU and include the project reference number.
15. Notification of Results
Applicants will be notified of the review results after the evaluation process.
The notification will indicate:
- whether the proposal has been approved
- the amount of funding allocated (if applicable)
