【校內講座-EMI講座】111.1.17~1.21 EMI課程系列講座(三)，額外開放觀看EMI系列講座(一)、(二)
為培養專業領域雙語專業人才，本校積極推動「全英語授課」，以英語為知識傳遞的媒介，教授各專業領域知識。本學期以EMI課程授課技巧為主軸，安排系列講座，藉此提升本校教師在專業領域全英語教學技巧。本次邀請國立陽明交通大學材料科學與工程學系鄒年棣副教授，分享如何用全英文教授工程相關課程，詳細的介紹課程設計、如何輔助學生學習、提供有效學習環境等方法。
本次講座以觀看預錄影片之方式參與，在111年1月開放一週時間，提供本校師生觀看。同時開放12/6及12/21講座之影片，讓未參與前2場講座者觀看，若教學助理未來要參與「EMI課程傑出及優良TA」之遴選，請務必完成遴選資格。(遴選資訊請參閱本中心傑出及優良TA網頁)

講座主題： 中文：運用手寫算式與圖像教材輔助專業領域英語授課 英文：A picture/equation is worth a thousand words 演講者：國立陽明交通大學材料科學與工程學系 鄒年棣 副教授 內容簡介：講者身為專業領域老師，常常苦惱使用英語授課會降低課堂溝通效率。因此講者希望透過課程設計和提供適當學習支援/環境，盡可能提高授課成效。其中包括：同時使用投影片與電子版書、提供助教課後習題講解、讓講義圖多公式多、每頁提供1.5倍速中文講解、將上課影片上網、運用社群媒體經營班級等。 ※本講座以中文為主，英文為輔 ※提供Q&A提問單，後續待活動時間結束，會在中心官網提供講者對於提問的回覆 |

- 本研習可提供本校教師及教學助理相關之研習時數，需觀看完整影片，填寫並完成問卷(有字數限定)，方可提供電子檔研習認證。
- EMI課程教學助理可參與教發中心於本學期辦理任2場EMI講座，等同完成教學助理培訓，若需教學助理研習證明，請來信通知承辦人說明參與2場次講座，經中心核對確認出席，提供教學助理研習認證。若想參加EMI課程的傑出及優良TA遴選，參選資格為擁有教學助理研習認證，並且需額外參加本學期教發中心所辦理的2場EMI講座。
- 參與本講座之教師，可登記領取「大學全英語授課：900句課堂情境句型與應用」此書乙本，作者廖柏森教授，並至「國際大樓IB-12樓R01教務處計畫辦公室」領取，若已有領取之老師，將不重複領取。
National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
EMI Course Series Lectures III
For cultivating bilingual professional talents in various fields, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) has promoted “English as a Medium of Instruction” in many courses. Dr. Nien-Ti Tsou, Department Of Materials Science And Engineering, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, will be invited to share his experience in EMI courses. The content includes how to teach engineering-related courses in English, design courses, assist students in learning, provide effective learning environment, etc.
Participants will attend the lectures by watching a pre-recorded video. The video will be available for one week in January (111) for teachers and students of NTUST to watch. Meanwhile, the videos of the 12/6 and 12/21 lecture will be opened for those who have not participated in the first 2 lectures to watch. Teaching assistants who wish to apply for the Outstanding Teaching Assistants Award have to reach the requirements. (1)Topic: A picture/equation is worth a thousand words (2)Speaker: Dr. Nien-Ti Tsou, Department Of Materials Science And Engineering, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (3)Introduction: As a professional teacher, the speaker is often worried that using English to teach will reduce the efficiency of classroom communication. Therefore, the speaker hopes to maximize the effectiveness of teaching through course design and providing appropriate learning support/environment. These include using slides and e-books at the same time, providing teaching assistants to explain after-class exercises, offering handouts with more illustrations and formulas, providing 1.5x speed Chinese explanations for each page, uploading class videos to the Internet, and using social media to manage classes. ※This lecture is mainly in Chinese, with English as a supplement. ※We will provide a Q&A question sheet. After the lecture is over, the speaker's reply to the questions will be provided on the center's official website. |

(1)Topic: 12/21 EMI Course Series Lectures II- My EMI Experiences- beyond Tactics and Skills (2)Speaker: Dr. Ping-chen, Tsai, Department of Finance, National Sun Yat-sen University (3)Introduction: The lecture will briefly discuss the current development of EMI teaching in Taiwan and the speaker's EMI experience. The speaker will share effective teaching techniques, strategies, and concepts about EMI teaching to provide our teachers with ideas on lecturing EMI courses, enhancing teaching confidence, and solving the problems of teaching fluency, low student participation, and students' varying English levels. ※This lecture is mainly in English, with Chinese as a supplement. |

(2) Participation method: Please register beforehand. Applicants will receive the URL of the video by email one day before the event. The video will be available online during the time mentioned above. Please refer to our official website for the announcement of the lecture and shared video.

1. This seminar can provide relevant study hours for our teachers and teaching assistants. Applicants are required to finish watching the whole video, fill in and complete the questionnaire (with word limit); then the electronic study certification will be provided.
2. During the semester, EMI TAs can choose any two EMI seminars by the Center for Teaching and Learning Development for training. For a record application, please email the contact person with a notice of two seminars you participated in. The eligibility criteria for Excellent TA of EMI program, you are required to attend two additional EMI seminars by the Center with TA Training Certificate.
3. At Room R01, 12th floor of the International Building, teachers who participate in this lecture can register to receive the book, “The Ultimate Guide to Teaching in English,” authored by Prof. Posen Liao. If you have already received the book, you are not allowed to receive it again.
