Dear All,

The 01/2021 issue of Taiwan Tech Newsletter is dedicated to the memory of professor Alicia D. Lloyd who passed away in December 2020. Alicia was the first foreign faculty at Taiwan Tech, and had devoted her whole career to our school. For more than 40 years, she has not only been an enthusiastic teacher, but also an avid supporter of Taiwan Tech’s internationalization. We would like to share her story with you as she will be always remembered as a part of Taiwan Tech’s history!

You will also find interviews with Professor Chia-Hui Chen, a PE instructor and coach of Taiwan Tech Male Soccer Team, and Professor Bing-Joe Hwang, a world-renowned researcher in electro-chemistry. Professor Chen tells us about her career as a soccer player and about her work as coach of Taiwan Tech Male Soccer Team which has 30 players from different countries and cultures. Professor Hwang who was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Research Award in 2020, reveals in the interview how he built his international career and what keeps him going.

And as usual, we keep you updated on Campus News and on past activities that we had planned for our international students during the winter break
