And how can open-source information help us investigate and better understand what is happening online?

Radio Taiwan International (Rti) Academy, in collaboration with Lithuanian NGO Debunk.org, is offering a two-session online training program for university students in Taiwan.

Through practical examples, interactive activities, and real-world case studies, participants will learn how Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) operates and gain practical skills in using Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools to identify and investigate potentially misleading or manipulated information online.

Session 1｜FIMI Fundamentals

Learn the fundamentals of FIMI, including how information manipulation and interference may be used as strategic tools and how such activities can affect societies, democratic processes, and the broader information environment.

The session will also feature case studies related to Taiwan, China, and Russia.

Session 2｜OSINT Toolkit to Detect and Engage with FIMI

Learn practical OSINT techniques, including web intelligence, digital footprint investigation, online verification methods, and the responsible use of AI tools to research and verify information online.
