According to the Central Weather Bureau, Typhoon Krathon, the 18th typhoon of the year, is being closely monitored. Current data indicates a high probability of landfall in Taiwan. Preparations for the typhoon should be made, and the latest forecasts should be followed closely.

The Weather Bureau has issued both sea and land typhoon warnings starting from the evening of the 29th. Over the next two days, the warning area will expand to cover the entire island. The typhoon's center is currently located south-southeast of Cape Eluanbi, moving northwestward. Its storm circle has already entered the nearby southern waters of Taiwan. Over the past few hours, the typhoon has strengthened, and it is predicted that the time when the typhoon will have the greatest impact on Taiwan will extend from the originally expected Tuesday and Wednesday to the first half of Thursday. Therefore, the period from Tuesday to the first half of Thursday will be when the typhoon's effects on Taiwan will be most significant.

Given the current trajectory, the typhoon is expected to make direct landfall. Before leaving school, all faculty, staff, and students are requested to ensure all windows and doors are securely shut. Preparations should be made in offices, laboratories, research spaces, and low-lying areas to prevent damage (better typhoon preparation, less typhoon damage). The General Affairs Office has prepared sandbags at the basement level 2 of the International Building (IB) (location shown in the figure below; please take only as needed due to limited quantity). After the typhoon, please return the sandbags to their original location. Thank you for your cooperation!

Due to the influence of the typhoon's circulation, strong gusts of wind are likely in the northern regions. During the typhoon warning period, students and staff are advised not to stay under trees on campus to avoid the risk of falling trees and ensure safety.

To prevent flooding due to insufficient drainage during the typhoon, we will close the school's car (motorbike) entrance and exit water gates as needed based on rainfall and drainage conditions. Vehicles will not be able to enter or exit at that time, so please take note. We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you must drive or ride outside during the typhoon, please reduce speed and drive carefully. Vehicles should avoid being parked in low-lying areas or outside dikes to prevent flooding. All faculty, staff, and students are urged to pay attention to traffic safety.
