Call for Proposal (CFP) for Collaborative Research Project between National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (TAIWAN TECH) and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) – September 2021 to August 2022
TAIWAN TECH and CTU have agreed to conduct a mutual collaboration to aim at promoting their research work and achievements to the international academic and industrial societies. As such, tenure-track or project-based researchers from both universities are encouraged to submit proposals for collaborative research projects. By definition, any collaborative research project should be conducted by researchers and personnel from both TAIWAN TECH and CTU.
An Assessment and Selection Committee (ASC), which consists of a vice-rector, deans and executives from TAIWAN TECH and CTU (regularly counting five persons on each side and co-chaired by two chairpersons on each side), supervises the procedures for the review, assessment, and the selection of the proposed research projects. The ASC is also in charge of the allocation of funding to the approved research projects proposals. For each planning period of time, the ASC may select up to 5 (five) project proposals for funding and implementation. The ASC serves also as the prime body for negotiation and solving of possible disputes related to the implementation of NTUST and CTU research cooperation. The ASC is also the appropriate joint body disputing, making proposals and submitting recommendation to the President of NTUST and the Rector of CTU. The ASC can also be requested by projects´ PI for consulting opinion as regards the issues of project implementation.
The research topics are not limited to any specific research category, however, the ASC may decide to narrow the scope of research topics based on the recommendations of its members and in full accordance with the strategic long-term research priorities of both universities.
Each research team should consist of one principal investigator (PI) from TAIWAN TECH and one PI from CTU. Inclusion of students, post-docs and other research personnel is optional.
The funding to each research team is limited to 250,000 NTD (or equivalently, 200 000 CZK). The funding cannot be used as the personal income of the PIs. The funding can be used for travel, equipment, consumable products, personal income to directly involved research person and miscellaneous expenses
To apply for the research grant, an application form and a project proposal must be submitted to:
-- Office of Research and Development (ORD), by the TAIWAN TECH counterpart
-- Office of Science and Research of the Rector´s Office, by the CTU counterpart
Please notice that both the submissions to TAIWAN TECH and the submissions to CTU must be performed in parallel. The applicants can find the application form in the attachment of this CFP announcement.
The application should be filed no later than 30 July 2021.
The contact persons are, respectively,
-- TAIWAN TECH: Ms. Chen, An-Ni, TEL: +886-2-2737-6184, Service-center of Project Affairs (ScPA), ORD.
-- CTU: Mr. Karel Zebrakovsky, Head, Office of Science and Research, tel. 420-224 353 463, email: karel.zebrakovsky@cvut.cz,.
The applicants will be notified regarding the status of their projects, including whether the proposal is approved and (if approved) the amount of funding, approximately within three months after the application deadline.
A final report of the research project should be submitted to the ASC, within six weeks after the conclusion date of the project, which will be specified in the project proposal/document and confirmed by the decision of the ASC.
At least one paper derived from this collaborative research should be published. Personnel from both TAIWAN TECH and CTU should appear in the list of authors of the afore-mentioned papers.(TAIWAN TECH’s PI should be published by 31 August 2024.)
